I was more referring to, what you would put the ram in physically to test it. Do you or anyone else use just a computer, or is there equipment like there is for the hard drives?
Like part time says, they exist, but are incredibly expensive. I have always had my guys use old computers we come by through the business. I try to keep at least one or two boxes around for each DDR type (1,2,3) just for such jobs. Three boxes I could've gotten $50 or so each for vs. a few grand for test equipment.. and besides, I'd rather know it actually works in a REAL computer. I will say you will go through boxes, though, as the RAM slots wear out.

This solution has worked for me and we go through pretty high volumes of memory at times (hundreds/thousands at a time).

    Hope this helps.

Those are good prices but if he is buying a that price and its not on his list shouldnt you check with him first before posting prices that may only be for a steady customer or for certain weight. I know my mobo buyer wouldnt like me telling people who bring him 2 or 3 boards what he pays me when i bring him 50 to 75 at one time.

Speaking of memory testing software, do they also check the DIMM slots to see if they are good or bad? I tried searching for that specifically, but don't seem to find anything other than some posts in other forums. Unfortunately, I don't understand Geek so I have no clue what they are talking about.

Had a buyer complain about a 1gb stick today. I just issued them a full refund and blocked them. Its not worth the hastle of going thru the claim/ return process on ebay for a $6 sale. I didnt test the ram but 90% or returns are caused by incompatibility so its hard to tell for sure. The ram stick is probably good. but by the time i get it back and relist it all the money is gone, best to issue a prompt full refund and walk away.

Heck no I would make them send it back to me and test it. If it worked I would file that with ebay make them pay for return shipping again. What you will notice though is that if they file a case with ebay and its less than $10 ebay will just do a no fault settlement and pay the buyer back all the money they spent and not require buyer to send the item back. At this same time the buyer gets to keep thier money as well. I guess if its cheap enuff they figure its not worth thier time to run the claim either.

Those prices are per stick, and phillyscrapbuyer is a good guy, been doing business with him for years, he buys alot of stuff he doesn't post prices for. I checked with him first and told him to list those prices on his buy page but i dont think hes updated it yet. He dosent spend much time here on the forum but if you contact him by email he will respond quickly and has great customer service.

Isn't that a little extreme for something you didn't even know was working (untested)?

Exactly Brass.... Members need to stop quoting for people unless they are willing to buy at that price
