Go Go Gold or what?

Is that your lot on ebay? Or a friends?

The reason I ask this is because when you do the math, the price it's selling for leaves no room for making any money.

So if you take just the Pentium Pro's alone, that are being displayed as if they are the bulk of the gold:

Pentium Pros only have .33 grams of gold per CPU

There are 22 Pentium Pros in this lot

22 x .33 = 7.26 grams of Au

Today's spot price on gold, per gram, is around 53.56

53.56 x 7.36 = $394.20

The only way you could add the remaining CPUs, and come out at break even or a little better is if you figured every single one of those CPUs on the high end, at something like .2 grams per CPU. Reality is that there are many chips is the other 126 that will only bear .1 grams or less.

It all looks nice and pretty when you word things, and post all kinds of pictures, but this is how I reason these things out.

If the person selling these chips knows the value of them, that probably means they have either processed them before, attempted to process them, or has a friend who has processed them and told them what their real value is.

That being the case, if there were more money to make from processing them, I have a hard time believing they wouldn't do so, or find a refiner who would for 10% of the yield. Surely, if the value was there they are trying to lead you to believe is, they would be doing this differently. That's not to say everyone is this way, but reason dictates here where most people just see gold gold gold like the post implies.

I would have to say whoever posted this lot, did a great job misrepresenting it enough, so that they could make more money off selling the CPUs rather than hassling refining them. I don't see any point however patting you on the back for being able to sell them, whoever you are, for more than their value because what is going to end up happening is someone is going to buy your chips because they are just starting to refine on their own. When they run them, and they get far less than what they thought the yield would be, they will either quit thinking they did something terribly wrong, or they are going to realize the gold wasn't there to start with, but the outcome is never good, and you could literally be ending someone's dreams by posting and leading people to believe things that are just simply not true.

It never ever ceases to amaze me how crooked people can be when money is involved. How easy it is for them to rip off their neighbor in order to get just a little ahead. Money isn't a way of keeping score, it's literally how people pay for what they need in order to live. When you scam someone and get more for your auction than it's worth you are not doing anything good, you are not doing anything upstanding, you are not doing anything to help the economy or other people, you are just simply doing what the major corporations do in the US, redistributing wealth, and not to those who need it most. Corporations have an excuse, they are only morally obligated to their stock holders who demand profit every quarter. But whoever posted this auction is not only morally obligated to themselves, but also to the person they are selling directly to, and their family or whoever else the monetary loss affects.

The old adage "buyer beware" doesn't really work in ebay auctions, you cannot see, touch, compare or anything of the like. Misinformation runs rampant on the internet. What the person selling this material is doing in effect, is stealing from others to increase their own wealth.

Anyway, it's wrong. I feel if I don't stand up for something I might turn into a sheople and end up falling for anything. So this is me standing up. This auction will not make anyone any money refining the material. The only way money could be made off this lot is if it's purchased, and kept, until the price of gold goes up so much that it makes it profitable to refine it.

It disgusts me that there are so many refiners willing to rip people off. It's not right, not in the slightest. But it also bothers me, just as much, when a scrapper sells items on ebay for far more than what their worth is. The only difference their might be is that sometimes scrappers do not know the true yield, and ask for too much. Refiners know every time, if they are being honest or not. My personal feeling in regards to this lot being sold on ebay is that the person who posted it, knew exactly what they were doing, and did so on purpose. But again, that is my personal opinion and while it may not seem humble, I have enough experience on ebay, buying and selling, to see through the bull I feel.
