Build a wooden box with a hinged top (hinged at back) and front panel (hinged at the front bottom) so the front panel drops forward from the top. Cut a slot in the top like a mail box to drop the phones through. Then when the box is full put a bag under the panel so as it opens, the phones slide into the bag. Mark it plainly - "For disposal of old cell phones only" "Not for mail". Build a stand for it about three feet high.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Be prepared for the occasional trash that gets put in by people who don't read or care.

The ones I have out locally are just plastic recycling bins you can get at home depot and they work great. I put a sign on it with my business name and what can be put in there. It is mostly for cell phones but I do get some cameras and random computer parts mixed in.

not to take over the thread and this will depend on your relationship with your yard, but my yard gives me 5 gallon buckets all the time from people leaving them, last time i got an easy 30 of them
now back to topic professional is the only way to go

yeah 70 bucks is cheap enough and if its going in someone elses storefront with your name on it i think it should look as nice as possible. besides that you can add your own logo to it so your can advertise all your services essentially its a one time purchase free billboard that collects free cell phones, i was just looking to help at first now im thinking about buying a couple

I don't know your budget, but I think a Slim Jim could work. You can get em' from Home Depot and cut a hole out of the top big enough for a cell phone and it wouldn't take up too much space. Then just slap some Cell Phone Recycling signs on the side and your done.
