    Having trouble identify a computer

    HP Thin Client S155 Model

I have the option of purchase a few of these but I can't find any information regarding these units. If these are dummy towers, what should I expect to find on the inside? Contacting seller tomorrow. Just not sure what dummy towers consist of. I appreciate any feedback.

I purchased some thin clients at an auction for next to nothing (.60 a piece). All they were was a motherboard the size of the unit with memory. Very easy to take apart. The CPU was not removable. I did well and should have purchased more, but I didn't know what to expect. Don't confuse these with a computer because it is not. No removable CPU, no hard drive, no cards, no wire, no power supply, their value is much lower. You are pretty much buying a motherboard with memory.

They should have a flash hard drive, but too small to be worth much.

only the high end ones will have flash memory.

99.9% of them will have it built into the board.

There is a secondary market for those thin clients that is steadily growing as the concept of "cloud computing" continues to expand. You could probably sell them for $20-$25 a piece.. maybe a little more.

I almost purchased 6 in a lot recently (different model) just to get the 1gb ddr1 SODIMMs inside (and sell them off to get most of my money back), they were $15 a piece shipped with external power bricks included. They don't seem to be worth much and there isn't much to recycle.

There are 36 of these available at an auction and didn't know how much to bid or where to resell them.
