    monitor stands

I got an email from a guy that wants to get rid of his stash of scrap. He wants to sell me what he claims is a pile of more than 200 monitor stands that supposedly look like this one:

HP Compaq LCD Monitor Stand LA2006X LA2206X LA2306X | eBay

He wants $1 apiece. Even though the one above sold for $15, I am not sure I want to be dealing with selling 200+ stands as parts. And assuming that they are made of steel, not alum, they are worth a few cents as scrap.

So am I crazy because I am overlooking something here and I should grab these? Or is he crazy for asking such an exorbitant price? How much would you offer for this pile (assuming, of course, that he has what he claims he has)?

Leave it alone. Unless you need the stands for 200 monitors that you are looking to sell them with, there is nothing to be gained. Over 6 months, you may make your money back if you are lucky!

That one is a list but none have sold. I did a quick search and found that sold for $10.95. I would say scrap value only. The Dell ones that look like that are steel. Some Dell monitors have an aluminum base, I think its nonmagnetic. They are D shaped.

Pretty sure that's zinc. My yard pays .25/# for zinc.

if they are all the same then it could take you a decade to sell but if you have many different stands that fit many models then they should sell a bit faster (year or less guessing). if you have the room to store and like selling on ebay then i believe you will profit, just a slow return. personally i wouldn't do it but i don't really like selling on ebay.

That makes sense... I don't plan one scrapping the 2 I have, those are on my monitors.... that is unless I find a nice dual monitor stand cheap. Maybe if I fix the 2 23" monitors on the repair bench I will look for one.
