    Looking for Canadian e-scrap buyer

Like the title says, I'm looking for an e-scrap buyer in Canada. I've tried contacting Devo who had a listing in the buyers and sellers forum, but have had no response. Someone, I believe from B.C., had posted a while back about a load they were shipping out to a buyer in eastern Canada(it was a pretty nice load!) but I'm unable to find that post again. In any case, any help is appreciated.

ETA; also, I would be interested in hearing from other Canadian scrappers about experiences they've had shipping to the U.S., both good and bad. Do most other Canadians have a good place to sell this stuff perhaps locally, or is there some demand everywhere for a buyer(s)? Just seems surprising to me that this aspect of recycling seems so far behind up here.

Aurum gave a good review of EDI Inc in Orillia, Ontario. I haven't used them yet though.

What city are you in? I may be able to help you out if you're near Ottawa at all.

Sorry Marc but can you elaborate on e-waste in Ottawa area?

It seems like we're definitely behind in terms of buyers of e-waste, here in Canada. It took me a very long time to actually find ways to sell my e-waste at reasonable prices. It was hard enough to sort out that I am seriously considering buying e-waste locally and reselling it to the bigger guys.

Thanks for all the replies! Otto, I'll check out EDI out, thanks for that tip. Aurum's post, which I ended up being unable to find again, was actually the post I mentioned in my first post. Marc, I'm in Calgary, so a fair ways from Ottawa. I Should also have specified that I'm looking at selling already broken down components like boards, ram, CPUs etc., not complete escrap. Thanks for the replies.

It was me that sold to EDI on multiple occasions, usually 1000 lbs loads of motherboards, ram, hard drives, etc. Very happy with their service and prices. Keep in mind that they require gaylord quantites, as they are geared more towards businesses, and also that is the only economical way to ship.

If the processes that I am experimenting with prove to be viable then it is possible that I will be buying E Waste in the future.

Actually I am considering driving a load down to ewasted, he's 8 1/2 hours away though.
Also would anyone know what kind of documentation I would need to export this to the US?

Ewasted might know. Your best bet is to create an account on his website, and create a lot. You need a lot to ask questions via his website, but you can delete or modify the lot at a latter point.

I had looked at sending E-wasted ~200lbs in December and I was going to send the packages off despite the shipping costs that ate into the profit margin. The following is the last e-mail they had sent me. I'm not sure if they worked any of these issues out, as I've since decided to keep stacking boxes of prepared mobo's in the shed until I have an EDI-size lot.

"I am having difficulty with the program to create labels for an international shipment. It will not allow me to change the schedule a pickup address to Canada. If you want to drop the items off at Fedex, I may be able to get past that. The other issue I was having was that I need to know the contents of the boxes in order to generate the customs paperwork. I tried to enter a generic electronic parts, but it wants a more specific description. In the interest of time, you may want to investigate the international flat rate boxes. Since this is a prompt & respond program, I don't know what else I may encounter that may require more information from you. I may have to discuss with my manager if we are going to accept international shipments under the label program due to the information required to complete the customs forms. You will probably have to go thru a similar process with the post office for the flat rate boxes as well. Let me know if you still want to proceed."
*Edited to add quotation marks to e-mail text for clarity*

I used to be down your way all the time going to Maxville for the pipe band championships, long drive for me. i have to take a load in tomorrow to my local yard just to make some room. I'm going to have to bite the bullet sell a couple boxes of low grade boards. maybe a new buyer will pop up soon. if i could secure a solid buyer I'd start buying from the other scrapers in the area. I'm hungry and looking to expand my business.

You might look on the GRF and see if there is anyone listed north of the border. Their buyers are like ours, you can read the good and bad reviews.
You might find someone that we don't know about here. Or maybe a smaller refiner,,,
