    The Future of E-Waste ?

Saw this on the BBC news this morning.
700,000 a day, that's the number of Smart-Phones Samsung is selling each day, 700,000 a day! 63,000,000 over the Xmas season(compared to Apples 43,000,000) That's in addition to all the other brands, i.e. Apple, Nokia, Motorola, etc etc etc
A phone recycling link posted yesterday claimed less than 1% of phones were being recycled in 2009

The simple old cell phones - the small ones / flip phone - are sought after - its amazing to think what's going to be when all these smart phones being made right now are put to pasture , but considering they are really small computers that don't need phone service . The APP's will allow kids to use them like a Ipod . They could end up with a really good Second Life with the young kids - but they must really have some juicy stuff inside any way

Also saw on the news today that the Smart Phones are going to start getting slower because there is not going to be enough bandwidth for all the phones they're selling.

Timely this post...as I just traded a couple xbox games for 4 cell phones. Ha.

2 flips, a LG and a t mobile sidekick 3....all for the cost of..3 old madden games. (5.00, I bought them at 1.00 each last time I hit up a gamestop)

Sirscrapalot - 20,000 silver teaspoons are stolen from the DC Hilton each year. ( Now I know where the DC scrappers get their silver!)

good point, but right now most or all of the cell phone dealers in my area are taking old phones and recycling them themselves, its really lame

What I'm saying is is that I have already made plenty of attempts at getting there old equipment lol
