The recycle drive was awesome! One 16ft box truck and two truck-beds full of everything but TV's. One business dropped off 52 Dell 610s. All and all some 350+ computers and laptops and there is still more to pick-up. I also got some radio time and met lots of new people.

What kind of deal did you work with the client hosting the event?

I saw a couple of monitors I think...did you charge for those?

    Thanks everyone!

@ George: Yep, about 50 monitor’s. I normally charge for them, but when I do recycle drives I take them for free since it gives an incentive to come out and bring other items. The deal I worked out was my normal pricing per items plus an additional % of sales over the scrap prices for the nicer items that I plan on reselling.

@ parrothead: I will try to post some more pics as I get to digging in the piles. The worst part is having a full schedule for the next few days and not being able to dig in.

    Jeremiah,

Did you already pay your normal price upfront? If so, how did you determine if the towers were complete?

No, there is a waiting period to weigh everything up before cutting them a check. Here is another pic.

For sure. I've really got a system down for parting out computers and laptops via eBay. Whereas I used to make about $15 per desktop, I'm averaging about $35 now.

What have you come up with? I personally have started checking everything for resale on ebay minus the wiring and hell I have started that as well.

ive been seeing cables and wiring going for about $2 pound on ebay, so even that could bring you more than a yard would pay

this is one im watching right now, however i think its possible to get about 40-50 pounds of it in a large flat rate box, i think you could net $1.50 pound

    ebay item: 330863803266
I buy and sell all types of scrap and escrap. I buy specialty and hard to sell escrap. I buy resale items. PM me or contact me at jghilino@hotmail.com
I AM ACTIVELY BUYING ESCRAP OF ALL TYPES. BOARDS, RAM, CPUS AND MUCH MORE

I will tell you, I probably only scrap about half the wire I get. The rest is sold via other outlets. Once you go down the resell path you never understand why you sold perfectly good power cables for $0.03 while the world is buying them for $3-$10
