    Break Down Questions.

I have decided it was worth it to break down old CD/DVD drive (Not DVD Burners).
The boards go to my board buyer, 3 small motors to scrap yard with other motors rest goes in shred.
My question is what do I do with the box of read heads I have been saving? Is there anything else I need to sort out?

Floppies with aluminum bases are these worth breaking down?
I know if I break off the gold pins there is a buyer for that. Rest of board is low grade. There has to be a small motor in there.
It just seems like a waste when I get a lot more for cast aluminum than I do for Floppies.

time how long it takes you to break them down after you do enough to get an efficient system.

everyone works at different speeds and has different values for their time.

I've only done maybe a dozen or so, but at first thought, I decided the boards were worth pulling(which they are), and now realize that once you get in that far, it's hard to stop there, and you want to go for the gold, but doing so changes the whole scenario, and takes a lot more time than it's probably worth, but it's fun dropping that tiny gold plated reader into the near empty bucket of tiny gold plated items you'll likely never recoup anything much on ; )

The alum floppy drives are worth taking the board off. May be wrong here but most buyers will pay mb grade for them. I take the board off then chunk the rest in dirty alum bin.

Gold plated metal is going for $60-$80 pound so i would say its worth it. Those gold eyes out of the reading heads should be worth about 30 cents each.
I buy and sell all types of scrap and escrap. I buy specialty and hard to sell escrap. I buy resale items. PM me or contact me at jghilino@hotmail.com
I AM ACTIVELY BUYING ESCRAP OF ALL TYPES. BOARDS, RAM, CPUS AND MUCH MORE

Matt- the boards off of 3.5 floppy drives are low grade, break the gold pins off of them. The boards off of cd/dvd drives should get mobo graded price.
Bear-you can send me the little bit of gold scrap that you have if you like, i'll put it with my little bit of gold scraps.
