Pricing Question on 50 Towers with CRTs ??

I have a question about pricing on a large to me lot of computers. I know I know use the search button.. I did and I know the each pricing....

So I have a guy that just offered my 50 PC Computer Towers with 50 CRT monitors yes 50 CRTs.. He says most work and they are ALL MISSING the hard drives.... But he also said these are all just a few years old????????
Nowbody bought CRT monitors just a few years ago.... Maybe around 2004-2006 but after that what company would buy 50 CRT monitors....

Anyways I know its around $3.00 maybe $4.00 each with finger cards in the with no HDDs. But with 50 thats $150 to $200, but in quanity and with the CRTs I would think the price would be less per unit??????

    Thanks

part of it depends on what it costs you to get rid of the crt's.

i would say add $1 to your normal price for computers missing a hd, because you are going to one spot to get 50 instead of 3-30 different places to pick up that many total

Also, make sure you open every single unit and verify that the hd is all that is missing. some people even look under the heatsink for the cpu.

When people want me to make a cash offer on something like this, I tell them the same thing every time: I can give you cash for the towers, and the monitors stay here, or I take it all for free.

I would pay $4 for each unit then deduct $20 for the time and fuel its going to take me to drive them 50 crt's to goodwill.

That's about what I was thinking. I just talked to him the lowest he will go is $800.

I think I need to find out more details.. even them if all good Core2 computers it would take a while to sell them and even worse store them until sold

If they are all dual core you should be able to flip them fast to someone who resales computers. I have a guy that buys all of my dual core and better for $25-45. He lets me take the hdd and ram out too. Not sure id go $800 though. And im not sure that you could even by a crt with a dual core. They might be pentium 4's.

I would offer him 180.00 hand him your name and phone# and walk away. When he finds that he can't get 800.00 maybe he will call you back. Sometimes you just have to walk away.

For me 800 would not only be out of the ball park, he wouldn't even have a ticket. There is NO scrap value left, they are missing pieces, they are not old enough to have good value and not new enough to make any real money reselling.

    RUN AWAY.

The first clue would be 50 computers + 50 CRT monitors. How old does a computer need to be to get a CRT with it? Earily P4? I bet they are all single core P4 with 1 stick of ram.

I'd look elsewhere. I can get dual core Dells without hard drives for 10.00 by the pallet at local auctions. Buying volume doesn't automatically = profit if you are buying it wrong.

$800 for 50 towers??? Dood that's $16 per tower....without hard drives... If you've done your research here, you'd know, no one here buys towers for more than $5 per tower, and pay even less with parts missing...

$800 for 50 towers? Your info says you're in Colorado, and I'd bet money the guy making that """offer""" is in Colorado, too. And he's taking waaaaaaay too much advantage of Amendment 64.

Maybe I shouldn't have worded it that way. I just don't want to see anyone take a loss like that. Having 50 CRT's included in that deal would turn me off. Hard to get rid of CRT's. Happyscraper's solution would be the way to go. The average for a tower, as far as I've seen reading posts here, is about $5 per tower. Knock a dollar off each tower since they're all missing hard drives and you're looking at about $200 for the lot. If you decide to scrap them, his lowest price of $800 is way too much. If your desire is to refurbish them, plan on a lot of testing and a lot of listing on craiglist or ebay

My original thought was to just scrap them, cause he said CRTs so I figured old computers.
I am waiting to hear back from him with Model numbers and specs. He said they are all the same model and same specs. He must have bought them at an auction and got them home to find out he is in over his head.

I have a few Core2 computers waiting to be refurbished right now. Testing is no problem I have done that before. I have software and stuff for testing them.
I have a bunch of PCI cards to test, a few memory sticks and enough 500Gb drives to get started unloading them...... We will see.....

LOL yeah that's funny....... oh and his friend told him he should sell them for DOUBLE that price......... This is almost FUNNY

But this is like addicting...... I just finished going through around 40 Towers and have around 8 getting refurbished... NOW I want more........

I would pay $250 for the 50 pc's. And i would take the monitors. If its 50 complete setups there should also be keyboards, mice, cables and power cords. So about 50 pounds of insulated wire that should go along with it also. 50 monitors isnt that bad, it would take me 5 weeks to process and dispose of that many.
I buy and sell all types of scrap and escrap. I buy specialty and hard to sell escrap. I buy resale items. PM me or contact me at jghilino@hotmail.com
I AM ACTIVELY BUYING ESCRAP OF ALL TYPES. BOARDS, RAM, CPUS AND MUCH MORE

That's not to much weight for it?? I was figuring average around 28lbs per tower.

I got 23 towers in my sable once. 3 in the passenger seat,8 in the trunk, and 12 in the back seat. Also had 28 towers in the back of the oddyssey once as well. Those were all full sized as well. If you have some small form ones in the mix getting 50 in the jeep should make it if you use your space wisely. If there is a will there is always a way!
