    gold plating on fan grilles?

I am running into alot of fan grilles on old power supplies that appear to have a gold color plating on them. Wondering if they are actually gold plated or if its a coating?

    Its just a coating,
There is no reason for the company who built them to gold plate the grill, its just for looks.
