Different CPU integration - Sun Microsystems Ultra 10 Elite 3D

Some of you may recall, I had picked up over 50 servers awhile back. I finally go through most of them and took this Sun Microsystems Ultra 10 apart today and this is what i found inside...





(4) 256Mb Gold Finger RAM that weighed almost 10oz.






Motherboard.




The CPU was mounted on it's own board and the connectors on the bottom had these gold plated plates down the center along with pins on both sides of the plates.








This sub-board mounted to some connectors on the Motherboard that has some nice plated contacts also.




Sorry about the picture quality, cell phone pics. Also, I used a 30x Jewelers Loupe across the cell phone camera lense for the close-ups.


Has anyone ever seen this before? I'm half tempted to strip those connectors.

The server also had a different kind of setup with the CPU I've never seen before.





CPU Sub-Board with a close-up of the grid array.







The CPU had this plastic tray that it sat in and the contacts in the plastic tray are raised bumps on both sides for good contact between the (not ball) grid arrays. The bumps on the plastic tray could be silver?








Anyone ever seen this style before?
