    Well crap.

Just won an auction for 103 Apple G3 all-in-ones. I though I only big 55 dollars but apparently my finger hit a 7 so I bid 755 dollars. I just won the auction for $601 . Luckily the place is only 9 miles from my house.

LOL I hope these work and I can unload them semi-fast. I have the space to store them.

From the other thread, it was said I can get $8-9 in scrap per so if I scrap them I am probably looking at a $300 profit from just scrapping. I would rather not scrap then, but I can recycle the CRTs so I will do this as a last resort.

Some of them are the Bondi Blue ones that sell pretty well.

Plus some of them come with keyboard and mouse.

Gonna grab a storage locker to store some of them so my garage doesn't get ridiculous.

I will still make money though, just not too too much

If there are a couple of the rare colors in the mix you should be able to move those...i think the rare ones are snow white and tangerine.

From the ones I took apart, you should do better than 9.00. It's unfortunate that you made the mistake, but I really think you will be fine.

    It it was me:

    1. List them on CL for 15.00 a piece.

    2. Get a good size box.

    3. Start pulling the memory and motherboards, throw them in a box as you go, then send the box right away to a buyer to recoup your money.

I posted some pictures on just breaking down the computer parts.

    http://www.scrapmetalforum.com/disma...d-all-one.html

After removing the higher dollar parts, you also have some copper in the monitor part, but I would take the lowest hanging fruit as quick as I could and get my money back.

    Thank you!

The thing is, I am not in a huge rush. I have 2 months on a 10x10x8 storage locker and I am not using this second. Of course I would like to unload them semi-fast but we shall see. I will need to go through them and pick out the ones that work and scrap the rest

Also, quick question. The processor seems like it is on that little board and so are the ram chasis. What grade do you get for that? Like for that whole little square?

Does anyone know if the CPU comes off or is it soldered on?

    What grade is the CPU?

And what grade is the square board that the CPU comes on? Mobo I'm assuming.

Sorry for bombarding, but just figuring out some costs. Picking these bad boys up on Monday due to inclement weather.

    Thanks!

    Just an update...

110 Imacs all G3. About 80 dark blue ones and, 20 light blueish, and 10 misc colors. most are the very old models and some are the newer models (2000)

Also as I bonus I got about 60 Apple Pro Keyboards, 20 Apple Pro Mice, and 20 Colored Keyboards that go with the earlier editions.

All have a hard drive and all have at least 1 stick of RAM. Most of them work and am testing their sales on ebay.

All crammed in a 10x10 locker.

Looks like I will make out pretty well. especially if some sell on ebay

If you have space in the basement or somewhere free that is dry I would save a few of the nicer looking older models (remove the CMOS battery) for 5 years when 99% of those are recycled, they will have some value to collectors then. The funny thing with computer collecting is that nobody wants a specific model when there is a flood of the, but 5 or so years later there is a decent market for them after the large majority have been recycled.
