Hi everyone
I have been useing the search function looking to see if there is any info on a "network data storage system". It looks like all power supplys, a few batteries, hard drives, and a tom of steel.
Have any of you scraped one of these?

Has a lot of high grade boards, plus power supplies and scrap. decent money to make. Just recently scraped two of them.

scrapped many of them. there are a lot of variables. scrap value from $35 to $200. depends on make model, configuration. size of net work served, what data is being stored etc.
A $600,000 server can be worth as little as $35 scrap value.

I may have to look it over again, all the hard drives for data storage have been removed.
Do the hard drives account for a lot of the scrap value?
I can make a decent return on just the steel.

HDs are worth $1 to @ for scrap depending on how far you want to break it down. I am not going to give blood secreats on an open forum, but just know this, all servers are not created equal We buy from government agencies, military and military contractors so our situation is a little different because of security issues.. I probably have $10,000,000 retail value in working servers in my yard right now but the scrap value is still about 3 to $5,000, and a he** of a lot of work.
Many military grade servers are a server inside a Fariday box and are built like a tank. no screws on the out side all rivets. The cpus in a server is generally not a high grade chip, most are run on fiber optic witch boosts the efficiency of every thing 200 times the fastest broad band. and and most parts cant be used in a personal computer with out frying it.

Any time you see something like this, run the models/parts by me. I'll be happy to let you know if there is any value above scrap.
I deal with HP, IBM, Dell, and Netapp. The hard drives are important, but sometimes there are other parts like filer heads, controllers etc that can bring value.
