Computer plastic and laptop lcd buyer

Hello I am looking to find a plastic buyer for plastic from computer cases, monitors and printers. Im not sure if anyone buys it? Im also wondering what people do with laptop lcd screens. I know they contain a long narrow board on the back side of the screen that has some gold plate but will anyone buy the whole screen.(would that board on the back be considered high grade motherboard price wise) Some of them contain mercury bulbs, guess Im just trying to see what other people ae doing with them and to see if anyone knows a plastic buyer near jacksonville, forida. thx

Those boards on the screens are mother board grade, at least to my buyer they are. Seems like everybody is looking for a plastic buyer.

I think he is referring to the boards that run the screens. Very thin with gold plating on them. High grade but very low weight.

At some point, someone with a good bankroll will figure out the Demand of people wanting to recycle this plastic (Usually ABS) and at some point in the future hopefully we will see a yard that deals only in it!

If I had the money to buy a bailer and a place to store enough ABS plastic I would start buying it. Everybody I talk to is looking to get rid of thiere plastic.

At 5 cents a pound, ABS/PC isn't worth the time from a profit standpoint. For one, it takes up a lot of warehouse space. Secondly, it doesn't weigh very much for the space it occupies. (One of our trucks can haul 6 gaylords and the other can haul 8) And finally, for $90-$100 a load, it barely pays for the fuel and buys a value meal lunch, and I am lucky because it is only a 20 mile trip for us. However, it does keep it out of the land fill.

The reason I am told that ABS/PC doesn't pay much is because it contains a fire retardant which makes it VERY difficult to reuse. Couple that with all the little metal inserts and clips and it is a real pain for them to deal with.

For more info, you can google Arrotin Plastic in New Haven, Indiana. Happy Scrappin' Vance

I was looking around for recycle places were I live and I found this one place that says they buy computer plastic for 8 cents a pound. Unfortunately it's a long way away from Florida so unless you can ship it real cheep it's probably not much help to you.

Where do you live? It could be helpful to others on the forum.

I live in San Jose California. There is a lot of e-waste recycling here. Maybe because It's in Silicon Valley. I'd give the name of the place or the web site, but I think that doing that might be against form rules. If anyone wants it they can message me, or just find it through Google like I did.

You need more posts before we can message you or you anyone for that matter.

Not sure why you couldn't name a recycling center..we do it all the time with scrap yards, an well..recycling companies.

Sirscrapalot - This space isn't for rent..it's to awesome to go cheap.

I thought that naming the place might go against the no advertising rule. My mistake I'm still really new here. The place is called DRG Recycling inc. There're lots of places around me that take scrap metal, e-waste and CRV(California Redemption Value) items, but so far DRG is the only one that I've found that give money for scrap plastic and paper. They told me that they give 100 dollars a ton for cardboard which seems pretty high for cardboard based of what I've read on the forms so far. I wonder if they are talking about loose cardboard or baled cardboard.

No worries Evan, better to be safe then sorry when it comes to the rules.

Yards get mentioned as do other recycling companies rather often, don't think it falls into advertising in that manner or in the way you shared their info.

Thanks for sharing the name though! You just might have helped out someone looking for such a place!

There's a yard in Huntsville, TX that buys plastic, glass, paper and cardboard as well as metal..I believe it's called Try 2 Recycle ..

I remember bringing about 40 lbs of loose cardboard and walking away with 3 pennies.

    Never again.
