    Recycling software

Just curious if anyone knows of a low cost recycling software. Most I have found are 5-10k. Also if someone could point me in the right direction for regulations for recyclers that would be great. I know here most scrap yards copy the sellers id, take there picture, get them to sign a copy of the total weight and pay given and even get a finger print. Thank you

    Software

I was using excel with some vba programming to do my scrap buying at first. But the people working for me aren't computer friendly and excel has too many not needed buttons. So I made my own program with only the needed buttons and info. As for buying scrap, We print the gross, tare, net and total on their receipt and ask for id if it seems stolen or really weird. Other than that its just the stuff you know is owned by someone else like rail, that you have to watch out for here. We pay cash or cheque on the spot.

I use inflow inventory software for my resale inventory, and even though it's not made for it, I adapted it to track scrap I buy as well. You can save a lot of info for each customer account, and create custom receipts.

I agree that spreadsheets (excel) can be very powerful especially with a customized setup. However, with volume it became cumbersome.

there are apps and software for pretty much everything, if you are looking for somthing that is recycling specific it will cost more than standard software, that is why i recommended the basic software

you can get open office for about $40 it is the generic form of microsoft office and still saves files in the ms file types like xls and doc, i use and recommend open office because it dosnt cost the $200 that ms office does and it does everything just the same
