    My Little Stash

I do not hoard a lot of scrap waiting for the prices to go up. I do though, like to keep my little special stash set aside to see what I can come up with over time. These are some ceramic chips that I have set aside because they don't change whether I will be in business from one month to the next.

I actually forgot I even had these set back until I was cleaning up around the shop. It is fun to keep aside a few small item to see what one can save up. Kind of like a scrappers savings account. LOL

The ALPHA chips have a serious "cool factor"!
There may a million better places to live than Iowa, but none of them are home!

    DO WANT!!!

I got a pleasant surprise yesterday when I learned the value of the 26 Xeon chips I pulled out of the servers from a recent auction win.

But yeah, the 'cool factor' of a shiny gold & ceramic chip has a certain appeal!

what were the xeon chips worth, was their value in still being current, or their PM content due to age/era ?

These were current enough to get me 7 smackers apiece if they test as functional. Some go significantly less, some significantly more.

I wonder what that Alpha (gold one in OP with the threaded posts on it) is worth? I'm guessing those posts are for more effective heat transfer to the heatsink?

Not sure what it's worth but those posts attached the heatsink yep. I once had about a dozen of those in old HP Unix boxes. The CPU unit was rather large, and attached to the main board into large gold pins. Each board had two

Ok so I'm an E-scrap "Dum Dum".. What would his "stash" bring if he were to "cash in the stash" at current prices?

I am not sure what they are worth now. I have not checked lately. I have added several more to the collection today. I scrapped out 5 old machines and they all had ceramic processors in them. YAHOOOO

I'm slower to scrap older machines, if it's below a 200mhz I start hesitating, below a 100 it'll probly sit here awhile

The old Alpha processors are one of my favorites to collect along with the 80186 / 80188 / 80286 CLCC's.
    I like your Samsung Alpha.
