Gold pins...what would be a fair price.

I haven't bought a whole lot of gold pins, fingers etc. in quite a while, so I am wondering what the going rate is these days with gold in the high $1,200s. I have a customer that has 40+ lbs. gold pins coming off electronics. These pins are spring loaded and very similar to these:

I don't plan on selling them on ebay, they will go to a refiner. That being said can someone give me an estimate of worth on this item?

Not to be a smart a$$ but you might be able to get a more accurate answer over on the GRF forum. A lot of those people
deal with that kind of stuff on a daily basis.

What you need to do is check out the GRF, they have a bunch of different formulas for calculating the value of the plating. If you can get a sample to measure/weigh, you can come up with a pretty good estimate. Don't forget they are probably plated on the inside if they are hollow.

Unless it is the lighting the color indicates they are not plated very thickly. But I could be wrong. The darker the color the heavier the plating.
We buy electronic scrap, Gold Karat scrap, gold filled, refined gold, silver and many other item's.

The customer brought in 13 pounds of the pins and they were gold plated inside and out per our Niton reading. We decided on a price that was fair for both of us, and he said he has maybe 20 more pounds to extract. Win/win

Do you think you could share the values with all of us?

I am taken the liberty of asking you to share as you did ask this forum before .
