If you are talking about the black fiber CPU's, lat 2 on a hard surface with the pins down. Put the one you are going to remove the heat sink from on top of the 2 on the surface. Put it with the black part facing up and take a screwdriver and a hammer and tap the corners through the epoxy and it will knock the black epoxy out and remove the heat sink
We buy electronic scrap, Gold Karat scrap, gold filled, refined gold, silver and many other item's.

depends on the cpu. But for AMD cpu's and a few others with the attached aluminum heatsink, i boil a cup of water and drop it in. Let it sit for 5 minutes and comes off easy. I think i used a knife or flathead to push it off. Still using heat, but a cheaper heat. havent tried this method on green fiber or p4 chips.

I am pretty sure you are losing money by taking the heat sinks off.

That depends on who your selling them to. If your buyer goes by weight like most ewaste buyers then yeah, but I don't. Mine mainly go to refiners that want them removed and will pay higher prices for clean cpus.

Even some of the buyers for just ewaste ask that the heat sink be removed, or you get a deduction in price.

Makes me sad..I got about 2lbs of the stinkers, an not looking forward to taking them off..LOL.

actually its not reducing the value as the value is the same either way, all you are doing is reducing the shipping weight

I just go by what the price list states. If I see a lower price for it with it on, an higher price with it off, it's a deduction to me. You make less with it on with some folks an some don't care. Just pointing out..some do. Hence why they have a lower price.

I'm just peachy with sending them in with them on, I just don't want the lower price..

just looked over the breakdown i did awhile back and it looks like you come out ahead slightly by breaking them down, plus you reduce the shipping weight
