tv/monitor boards help

transistors are they worth money cut off the board or left on.. ic chips on low grade tv/monitor boards leave on or break off... the big black thing lol aka the motor. leave on or take off... I've seen a thread where they buy broken tv/monitor boards and one person shreads the boards and still can sell it that way? im guessing it takes a great deal of these boards for a buyer to buy a shipment. im working overtime right now so to research all this on here is slow and yall are such wonderfull knowledgable peeps unlike my spelling lol.. if I can post pics here they are.

Therw are several theads on here about this sort of thing. Brown board and low grade boards run about .18/lb if you can find a buyer....they all have aluminum heat shields/heatsinks, copper bearing transformers and other items, and some have ic chips. You can make alot more money by pulling some or all of these off...I pull the aluminum of course and the copper bearing stuff....quick and easy. The rest you have to look at your time vs the $$$. I dont mess with muvh more but then again I value my time at $50/hr. Do a vouple of "tv" searches here and I bet you find the info you are looking for.

3rd pic has your flyback transformer, the rest is just low grade I toss in with shred

yeah I pull the heatsinks ,transformers and transisters and any removable ic or e-proms then the rest goes into low grade

Ok cool but does that include clipped off transistors like the prongs that get soddered to the board or they have to be hole? cause I broke most of them lol accept the ones still on the boards. who buys that stuff E=waste buyers? I also tried prying off the ic chips and broke a cpl . going to research here how to get those little boyz off.

The 3rd pic is a flyback transformer, some scrap yards will buy them as transformers/motors, I leave them on the boards. I take the IC chips off by turning the board over and with a 4 1/2 in. angel grinder with a thin metal cut off blade grind the soldered legs and they fall right off(sometimes I have to use a flat screw driver to lift them off). If you try this you might want to wear a dust mask. I know ewasted will buy them but don't know who else buys them. I also take off any aluminum and as much steel as I can, my e-waste buyer buys the boards. I leave everything else on the boards. Most e-waste buyers will buy the boards if they are broken but I have never heard of anybody grinding up the boards before they sell them.

remember when you knocked the alum off be sure to remove any metal connector that holding that alum on the board, if it's metal it could be rejected depending on the buyer..

and just inform him he could also find more info

thanks for the advice.. yes I make sure the alum is cleaned an sort the copper that easily excessable an box the smaller but not to small copper parts for later smash an stash. there is a ton of info on here from great peeps such as yourself, I don't have time for a trailer run and drop off each day for quick cash but I do pick up goodies and have fun tearing/separating them. its pretty basic as far as safety and whats worth a persons time and what is worth separating, its just the small fine tuning stuff ill question like those transistors the black prong copper pieces ive seen for sale but not for scrapping, im going to take to my yards and see what they say but that also might be an e waste buyer leave on and ship kinda stuff. south Louisiana doesn't have an e waste buyer.. but thank you all for your help and info, mucho appreciate.

My trick for removing them is laying the board flat, take a smaller chisel and go across the far side legs just tapping the legs easy like.
Just a couple of taps will usually bring the legs up out of the solder or slice them if their stubborn. I get one side done then turn the board around and do the other and they will usually come off in one piece.

yes I tried some of that and it works good, broke a few though, are most or all rectangular chips called ic chips I think there are e proms on pc boards but I mostly have tv tube boards and projection tv boards, I box up/saving computer tower/laptop boards. and since I prolly have to ship the boards theres most likely a minimum poundage per shipment... ill find that info out later.. thanks for the info I appreciate it

When you break a ic chip can you still sell them or have they lost value at that point?
