    Other than Gold Connectors

I'm curious what people are doing with their cut connectors that don't go into the gold pile. For example, PS/2, RCA, and power adaptors. Are these going into your dirty brass bucket? I'm required to cut these from the cord at my yard. I think these are brass.

I've accumulated a nice pile of them, and I would hate for it to end up going in the trash. But, I don't see an effective way to extract the brass, and I've not seen any buyers for them.

Please do forgive me if this has already been answered. I've seen plenty of threads on what is a gold connector and what to do with those - but nothing on the other connectors other than pulling out the brass on outlet plugs.

Your best bet would be to ask your scale person how they classify them. I would think dirty brass. I have never cut them since my yard will take them attached to the wire. Sometimes I get #2 insul price sometimes they go with puter wire. All depends on what yard i go to that day and who is on the scales. Good question though.

Yep, I agree with BC, my yard buys all that stuff as "dirty brass", even the "silver" looking is coated brass usually.

Talk to your yard. You might be able to take a small hit in per # and not have to cut the ends and it still works out. This is especially true if you can save up some weight.

Put connector in vice then take some channel locks and bend/pull the prongs out. you will get brass and a little piece of bare bright
