Heat Gun to desolder and remove gold pins?

Anyone had any luck using a heat gun to more easily soften the solder and pull out the gold pins?

I just got one since I heard guys talking about them here and around the web. On one board that had soldered contacts, I was able to heat it up enough that when I tapped the board I was able to get most of the pins out or barely connected. A quick pull with a pair of channel locks and it came right off.

I use a heat gun to pull IC chips. I guess it would work for pins too.
