    dish network satellite boxes

Got a bunch of these. What kinda things can I remove to make the boards higher grade. I already removed the transformers. What about the small copper iron ferrite coils? Larger capacitors? Audio/video jack? Should I worry about excess plastic on the boards?

    Thanks

I have found that each buyer will require boards to be preped diffrantly. So it would be best to get in touch with your buyer and ask him how he wants them. My buyer would say take off all extra steel and plastic, also the vidieo/audeo jacks.

I think you are going to find that you really aren't going to "remove" anything that will make a board a higher grade. Most sat boards are somewhere around mid grade. You can pull all you want but it will NEVER be worth more, only less.

Totally disagree. Easiest example is that some buyers pay more for finger cards with the bracket removed. I have had some telecom power supply boards that were classified in a higher grade because I removed the transformers. I've learned in this business that it's not always a good idea to make absolute statements. Check with your buyer on how they want everything prepared.

Also, I have pulled satellite boards that are telecom and worth more than motherboards.

Every buyer is different so it pays to ask but, I remove all excess steel and aluminum and I also remove heavy stuff like transformers so I dont pay to ship that weight. I dont think I've been downgraded for that because the E-waste buyers dont want to pay for steel - they want to pay for the other stuff they get from those boards. No?
