I have been looking for a buyer in the southern California area, seems to be few and far apart. Seems this should be a big market. I have a couple hundred pounds of high grade boards and reluctant to send out of state if there is a local buyer that pays a decent price. So far the best I have found is $1 a pound, any help or suggestions?

Dont know why bigburt, but it may have to do with permitting. Cali is a beautiful state but very regulated. I know Noblemetalworks was waiting for permits as well when he was getting his place set up to refine. If anyone can give some insight he would be the one to ask.
It may be something for you to explore doing if yhere are a lack of ewaste recyclers out your way. Major money with silicon valley out your way.

After digging, I found a lot of companies in my area that I never knew existed. Some of them still exist on getting everything for free or really, really cheap. Some pay a decent price. Most of the time it requires large amounts to get noticed, though.
To say be careful who you sell to would be a giant understatement. I have found that holding onto enough material to make a pallet load gives me a cheap enough rate to feel good about shipping. I shoot for 800+ lbs of material per pallet which gets me into the 900-1000lb overall weight and you do pay for shipping the pallet and all.
If you have the space perhaps you can become a buyer in your location and ship to one of our buyers on the forum. For me the current feedback from our members about our buyers is the best protection I can get less selling in person. Mike

Having been in business for almost 20 years (Property Management/Landscaping/Construction) it has to be regulations. One thing for sure I have never lacked work opportunities in this state. The problem is always goverment and big companies, I have a saying "You got to PAY to PLAY" and it almost always comes down to that. I have been thinking about becoming a buyer, until I learn more I will explore selling to the experienced buyers that have good reputation with the members here. It just seems there should be more buyers, but then again I have only started getting my feet "WET" may have to jump in and make a splash!
