Oops..forgot to address your post Bear, so will edit my reply..:) instead of double posting. They may help others, but when the hurricanes roll through my sandbar and folks need help, it's our local groups stepping up, an the churches. They may help elsewhere an I'll applaud them for that if so, but in my experience down here they don't do anything for the community that I see besides run a store. Your experience may vary. :)
Yes, I had a bad dealing, an it left a bad enough taste in my mouth, I refuse to deal with them. I have no issues with others doing business with them, I'll just still lobby to help your local groups an stores, it'll do more for your community in my opinion. :)

I for one can assure you Sir, Goodwill does Not deserve the bad raps they have received
I can however, attest to some of the dissapointments encountered with local management, but in all fairness, what firm or organization never had that problem at some level. I too feel for the people who have no other choice but to work there, but thanks be, they Have a place to work
I get truckloads of stuff from a local thrift store on a regular basis. I'm working on dominating all local thrift stores in my area;-)

I'll second (third?) the comments expressed here. Work with a local thrift store and donate back to it. I don't have much good to say about Goodwill, from either a scrapping standpoint or a philanthropic standpoint. That's just me. Your mileage may vary.
