    Yea, I don't deal with goodwill anymore in any capacity. They are for profit, an I'd rather help those that help my community.
    Sir, I beg to differ but;

    Amen Mech. You'll also find when the chips are down, and every gov't agency who is supposed to help, doesn't, Goodwill steps up to the plate

    Then I shall retract, an edit my post. I was just going on the info from here in past threads.

    I here by take my statement they are for profit. I still stand my decision to not deal with them anymore tho.

    Thank you Mech for setting the record straight.

    Oops..forgot to address your post Bear, so will edit my reply.. instead of double posting. They may help others, but when the hurricanes roll through my sandbar and folks need help, it's our local groups stepping up, an the churches. They may help elsewhere an I'll applaud them for that if so, but in my experience down here they don't do anything for the community that I see besides run a store. Your experience may vary.

    Yes, I had a bad dealing, an it left a bad enough taste in my mouth, I refuse to deal with them. I have no issues with others doing business with them, I'll just still lobby to help your local groups an stores, it'll do more for your community in my opinion.

    I also prefer to do business with local charities.

    By the way - I love old electronics. If I've never handled one before, I tear it all the way down. Takes a while, but every once in a while the surprise pops out at you.

    They're not the Red Cross, Sir, they're the handicap store ; ) They even reach into areas where an injured worker who is now physically unable to continue his trade and the labor dept has totally abandoned as if they were a helpless fish left on the beach to die, and workers comp is just a bad joke, with the only ones laughing being the CEOs and shareholders. I for one can assure you Sir, Goodwill does Not deserve the bad raps they have received
    I can however, attest to some of the dissapointments encountered with local management, but in all fairness, what firm or organization never had that problem at some level. I too feel for the people who have no other choice but to work there, but thanks be, they Have a place to work

    I get truckloads of stuff from a local thrift store on a regular basis. I'm working on dominating all local thrift stores in my area;-)

    Did anyone else click that link for the goodwill auctions? A Saga system and 6 games going for over 5 grand? What is that about?

    Hey Jord....I finally found another ECM with gold pins to show you. I decided to post it on this thread instead of starting a new one. It's from a Nissan, but I don't know what model.

    I'll second (third?) the comments expressed here. Work with a local thrift store and donate back to it. I don't have much good to say about Goodwill, from either a scrapping standpoint or a philanthropic standpoint. That's just me. Your mileage may vary.
