    New oppurtunity

Spoke with a friend of mine at my daughters basketball practice tonight. He does maintenance for a rehab facility in a neighboring town. I told him I would be interested in any ewaste they may have. He told me it wasn't often or much, but he would give me a call if anything came up. Then he brought up that his wife runs a social service type thrift store for a church and said sometimes she has problems getting the man who normally picks up their ewaste to get a load when she has one. I told him that if she ever has a load he won't pick up to give me a call and that I would never refuse to pick one up. May turn out that I only get a few calls here or there, but could turn into I get all their calls. I just excited about the opportunity and it also has gotten me to thinking about who else I may know that I need to talk to as well.

Thrift stores are awesome Hilo. You can find some past threads on them, from myself, Auminer, an many others( No offense, I can't remember everyone!).

Good luck with it, an shame on the guy who's supposed to do it, if he can't step up, yoink that account!

Sirscrapalot - Loves him some thrift stores.

also like to add that you should talk to everyone about what you do and you will see the calls that come in. I hand everyone I talk to my card. most of the parents of my kids friends now call me instead of going to the drop off places. don't be afraid to talk, be passionate about what do and the calls will come. happy scrapping :-)

Thanks for the encouragement. If the guy can't make his pick ups I see no reason not to provide better customer service and get the client for myself. Will follow up and let you guys know how it works out.

HiLo - Offering to pick up stuff when others won't is how I took over an account with a township near me. They would always pay over a thousand to get rid the e-waste themselves when the other guy would come and pick up what he wanted and left the rest. When a guy emailed me about what I take, I told him I would take everything. So now, whenever I go to pick up, I take all the real good stuff and then keep loading until I am full. Takes me a few trips to get everything from one clean-out, but it all pays out in the end.
