    gold plating on smart/sim cards

Does anyone know about the plating on sim cards from cell phones, and smart cards from satilite boxes? Was wondering about how thick the. Plating was and if it better to sell to someone or have them refined. And as far as the smart cards from sat boxes, do the excces card need to be trimmed off or just leave the entire card intact. I guess I'm asking is there anything inside the card or just the small gold plated surface that u can see.
Thanx once again in advance for all the answers. I enjoy hearing responses from all the smart ppl on here, I have learned a lot.
And I want to appolize in advance if there is a thread about this and I have missed it. Maybe someone can help me out on where to look
    Thanks again

I believe we have a buyer for the whole sat card on the forum. Pays a buck a piece I believe. Dont cut them up. He buys for resale.
If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

Actually the gold plated squares are worth money on their own. I read on here it takes around 1000 of them to make a pound, and have been known to sale for a decent amount. Their is more Info on them in the archives. Yields too.

Ill prob hang on to them for a while unless something comes up. I will prob send them to my refiner to refine for me if nothing else. I have a nice little assay of stuff to send. a little over a pound of gold plated pins, about 5 lbs of different connectors, some gold fingers, a few small pieces of boards completly gold plated, and some smart and sim cards

The only thing of value for refining is the gold square on the sat. card. People were buying the whole card to hijack the machines and open up the sat. world and Direct TV has the auctions booted off of Ebay now.

the access cards i have that are dealer cards say dealer card on them, they basically are for demo units at the store that unlock all of the channels, from what ive read the gold yield on sim cards is about 1 gram pound so thats only about $40 worth of gold per pound
