I first thought that the flat piece of alum might have been tinned copper or something. After I got it off I thought it was alum because of how light it was. Then I took my utility knife to it and confirmed it was alum.
I have tore open hundreds, prob thousands of tvs and monitors and have never saw anything like this. I like getting the older ones because they are usually copper degaussing cables instead of alum. Again this was a first for me.
And as a side note:
For anyone that is saving the bars from the electron gun for mtp glass, or has been keeping up with that, a few weeks ago there was a couple posts about certain bars being really wide and milky white. Poster (don't remember who it was) said something about their mom or someone talking about it was the best glass u could use to blow. This tv had 2 bars in it that was about 1 1/2 wide and 3/4 in thick and pretty white. Looks like someone poured milk into a mold. Wondering if this is what they were talking about. Maybe someone knows or the poster of that could let me know, or maybe even ben from mtp might know or chime in. Thanks again everyone for the info in advance.
