You're welcome NH. The main reason for this thread is to show everyone what's inside these systems and especially the phones.
Some phones are not worth the trouble but many are. Last month I was looking about 800 phones and I knew they had good boards in them so I brought them home.
There are some phones that have brown boards and about 50 screws in each one. You don't want those unless you have a way of testing them and can sell them for better than scrap value.

jimicrk - You have inspired me to work my two boxes of business phones. I don't get near the volume you do, but I do get a little, just hope it's half the quality of pictures in this thread. Thank You! for this and keep it going, it does show the rest of us that know little about commercial phone systems, the possibilities. For the most part your pictures are all "Centerfold Spreads!

Hey bigburtchino, thanks for the nice comments. Most business phones do have nice boards in them but I remember one type from AT&T that had only 2 brown boards and 50 screws to remove them. I can't remember the model number of that particular phone. That was before I started taking pictures.

Trying to catch up on my sorting and boxing up cards this weekend. Have a few more pics I wanted to post.

The first 8 pics are from a Lucent Partner phone system minus the power supply and all the plastic.

The first pic shows how the gold finger cards plug into the back plane.

















The last 2 pics are boards from an Ayaya Merlin system





There are some modular connectors and some small transformers that are easily removed which will increase the value of the boards.

I picked up 2 Hewlett Packard NetServer LH3 Pll 400's yesterday and just got through taking one apart. This thing was a beast and had dual Pentium ll processors in it.

I don't know why in the world I brought this home. I guess to keep it from going in the dumpster because that's where it was headed. They loaded it with a forklift but when I got it home it wouldn't budge. I ended up tying it to a tree and hitting the gas. Not sure how much it weighs but I'm guessing around 400 pounds. There's one transformer that looks like it might be 150 lbs and 2 small ones at 50 lbs each. I'm going to break it down today to get it out of the yard so I might add a few more pics later.

Over the last 4 to 6 months I've been reading on SMF about the low prices and how smaller yards are closing. Well those low prices finally got to my yards also.

In the last 2 weeks I have sold most of my scrap and have my garage somewhat organized again which is allowing me to concentrate on sorting and boxing up my circuit boards. I was even able to get rid of the 40 boxes of plastic I had accumulated.

I have about 1000 pounds of transformers I need to work on; it's just getting out there and doing it that's the problem. I plan on saving my #1 & #2 copper because it doesn't take up much room.

Things are slowing down a bit which is good in a way but usually after I sell and get everything neat and tidy I get several calls and then my garage is full again. I guess that's a good thing.

I did have a box of phones and some other things and was going to post some pics but my wife scrapped it before I could get to it. Oh well, there will be more.

I started working on my transformers again after about 10 months of them slowly piling up. I'm guessing I have about 1000 pounds but I'm not going to sell them at the current price of 5 cents a pound. Instead I'll be using my bandsaw to cut one side off and the rest of the copper and be tapped out with a hammer.


This is one pile. The larger ones are 25 pounds each. There's more in the back of my truck covered up with junk that I'll get to eventually.




In this pic the one on the right weighs 50 pounds and the one on the left is 65. The big one is 200+ pounds. All 3 are to big for the bandsaw so I'll have fun with those.

I didn't realize it until I was looking at the picture on my post but the big transformer has all of the "I" pieces welded on one side. I just went out in the garage to confirm.

I recently went through a 3 week dry spell which was good because it gave me a chance to get the garage back in order. I'm not complaining but every time I get everything sorted and put away, I get another call to pick up more stuff. Last week I received 3 in one day and I just got through looking at everything.

There was about 8 printers. I pulled the good cards out and the rest will go in the shred pile. Still 40 a ton here.





This is a MK440CT Digital Key Telephone System that came with 65 telephones, 1 voice mail system and a UPS.



8 Dell PC's, 1 label printer and 2 boxes of assorted cables, RAM, WAP's and 2 laptops.



And finally 1 battery backup and 2 Dell PowerEdge T300 servers.
