This is the only time I remove gold fingers from boards. I don't get them often but some server power boards have them.

I scrapped a cisco redundant power supply yesterday and these 2 power boards were the only thing inside except for 8 cooling fans. Almost 20 pounds of power boards.
Do you knock off the Al or just ship as is? Thanks for sharing. 73, Mike

Now go beat the copper out of something, Miked
Very cool. I've backed out of most of my scrap business. Now its mostly cleaning up the left overs. As you can imagine the stuff that is left over doesn't have the highest value so my motivation has waned.
I'm onto the next stage of life, enjoying past employers paying me to stay away. I do enjoy your posts. 73, Mike

After working all day in the garage on boxes of phones, I was ready to stop for the day but I thought I would scrap 1 PC. My thoughts were that it shouldn't take long and then I would go inside.
This thing was a beast. It was heavy and very hard to figure out, plus I was tired.
It was a HP Visualize x550 workstation and it had dual Pentium lll Xeon slot processors (never seen before) and a really nice looking gold finger card.

My neighbor called today and asked if I wanted some things he had been saving. His wife thanked me for hauling all the junk away. A lot of it is junk and will be thrown away but just a quick look and I found a bag of cpu's with 1 Pentium Pro in it. There is about 5 pounds of memory in 1 box and there are bags and boxes of finger cards, laptop boards, mother boards and slot processors. I can't wait to get in there and find out what I really have.

Well everything in the garage is either boxed up or loaded ready for a scrap run this morning. My next task will be cleaning out my ranger to see what goodies await from the stuff I picked up from my neighbor last weekend. I will be posting pics when I find something worth sharing. My first find was several pounds of CPU's. There was a Pentium Pro in with what looked like P4's. This is the second one I've found in 5 years.

After about 2 hours of digging in the ranger I have 1 large box of trash and the following.
1. 4.55 pounds of ram with the gold fingers removed
2. 20.95 pounds of gold finger boards with the fingers removed
3. 3.60 pounds of laptop boards
4. 4.40 pounds of gold finger boards
5. 4.55 pounds of ram
6. And 9 slot processors and 3 small socket mother boards.
Stay tuned....more to come.

I've been digging in the ranger this week because I needed a laptop for work. I found a Dell 5420 that needed a hard drive, memory and a charger. There is a lot of laptop parts and pieces in there and i was able to find everything I needed. I loaded Win 7 on it and it works very well. Looking forward to digging in there some more this weekend.

Way to go! Now you will just have to get used to the constant pop up telling you that your window 7 is not gonna last forever.

You'll eventually get the popup when win 7 updates. It's no big deal. It's just saying that win 7 is scheduled to reach end of life next January. Chances are ... they will postpone that just like they delayed end of life with XP.
With so many win 7 machines still in service ... it would create a national security problem if Microsoft stopped providing security updates.
The free win 10 upgrade ended awhile ago. That didn't go particularly well anyway. They ruined a lot of machines. The Dells in particular. JMHO ... the Dells have proprietary hardware that doesn't work well with Microsoft's generic drivers.
If it's just for a particular task at work ... i think i would just air gap the Dell and keep running win 7.
I've got Blue Driver coming in this week and plan on using it just for diagnostics. Same deal ... refurb a Dell laptop and run win 7. That should be good enough for a number of years. I'll post an update if i run into any problems.

I was scrapping some old Avaya phones this morning and after a few noticed a big difference in the older boards compared to the newer ones. I didn't weigh them but the older ones are considerably heavier than the newer ones and have nicer components.
No pictures?

Here's another gem of a find from the back of my ranger. Unopened boxes of fidget spinners. I opened them and put them in a sandwich bag because the boxes were dirty. My daughter has already found homes for them.
