    Question Touch pad mylars

Referring to any touch pad mylar on general electronics microwave, stoves, dishwashers just about anything really. Has anyone run across silver traced Mylar?
I have yet to run across any and was wondering if this was a goose chase.

    from a microwave... Tin trace

All the ones i have taken out are layered so the chance to find silver trace could be worth the time as they only take a minute to take out.

Couldn't find much in searching here and elsewhere.

I should state that it's not run of the mill stuff I am looking in as it would seem to me to be a waste of time. This came out of a (originally) $500 microwave with all the bells and whistles.
    You know....Rich people stuff

I need more of those kind of folks, I always get the cheapies from wal-mart.

Sadly they don't throw them out till they have to(the rich folk) down here on the sandbar. Since most are in seasonal rental homes. Their cheap bastards. Which is why their probably rich.

    Sirscrapalot - 10,000 a week for a house...pfft. I'd be using that for a freaking down payment.

I also pull those off of microwaves and other electronics and save them. The plastic is heavier and has adhesive, so I expect the silver recovery rate will be lower, but heck, I also save mylars that have rubber buttons glued on them. Never can get all the rubber off.

No, never tested it. Do you mean you've tested 10 of these so far?

A lot of the microwave mylar is carbon traces.
Somes Silver & I expect it to be good Silver.

I have found a Gold trace once or twice. National genesis I think.

One of the simplest test for silver on these is to use a drop of nitric acid to dissolve the trace, then add a pinch of salt (NaCl).
If there is silver present, a white cloudy precipitate forms, silver chloride, which is not soluble in most things.
