to add on to the others...your idea..of.."how can it hurt them.." is what shoplifters tell themselves when they steal from a store. "Oh it won't hurt them, it's just a pack of gum/pair of socks/etc." Your wrong, it hurts everyone. Store pays out more for security, which in turns hurts the worker bees, an then they turn that loss on to the customer..so..instead of a 1.50 for a soda, your now paying 1.89. Gotta recoup that loss!
Let's apply that to the city. Those funds go somewhere man. It's not like it's profit for them, or extra. Bpat can correct if I'm wrong but I'm sure those city funds from the recycling centers, go to many city/county things. Road Improvements, schools, etc etc. Keep that in mind next time your like.."How can it hurt them.." an your complaining your city isn't offering a service.
If your taking from a center with posted signs, your no better then the tweaker taking stuff from people's yards. Or a shoplifter. You better have permission in writing before even trying it. An worse that can happen? You get a record for being a trash thief, a long with fine, possible jail time, etc etc.
Or you know..you could do it the right way, hit curbco, not take things not on the curb. Or visit shops like the rest of us, or find free material another way.
An in some places it's illegal to take from someone's trash can. Same with dumpster diving, some allow it, some don't. If it's locked up, don't go in it if you don't have permission. You just give those of us who do this the right way, a black eye.
Not trying to be a jerk, but..you picked the wrong forum to bring this to. Nobody here will encourage it. An trying to justify it is just going to make it worse.
Ahh..yet another novel, but hell with it. lol.
