Looks like a decent lot.. Can't see exactly how many pieces there are though...
From what I can see, there should be 10 CPUs, 7 LCDs, 2 laptops, 1 video player and 1 printer.. not sure what else there are
Assuming those numbers I wouldn't go over $80. $100 seems a little rich, but not outrageously so.
If its not far away ask to look before committing to buy. If its far away hit him with a lower bid and be prepared to walk it he turns you down. My motto is "Profit begins when you buy NOT when you sell" Mike.
"Profit begins when you buy NOT when you sell." {quote passed down to me from a wise man}
Now go beat the copper out of something, Miked
Ya'll missed the golden egg I see in this photo...the dell 755. If it works an it dose look to be in "ok" shape as I have seen worse work..those sell for $100 easy. The dell I see sitting on top is a d600 or higher, maybe a d620 and that is worth in parts about $40 an I think there's two of them. Now, I would go there and look closely as it and poke around..but check those items and try to guess if they would work or not. If I felt good about it I would drop the $100 on this as I see around $200 in resale not counting the scrap goods.
All in all...worth a look
the background of that storage area remind me of the SAW movie
BUYING ALL COMPUTER SCRAP WORKING OR NOT

I agree with easy, those dell optiplex's are worth more than scrap. I also agree with Miked, if you can go look at them offer him 50.00 and go up from there but 100.00 would be tops. Just my .02
does the seller guarantee all are whole & complete? Even then they are marginal for total scrap value alone. some resale would be necessary.
"anyone who thinks scrappin is easy money ain't doin it right!"
I offered him $50 he said come get them. I assume they Havnt been touch but I will look when I get there. Got to wait till payday pinion gear went out on my truck so it's in the shop and the $50 is going towards to fix that.
I buy computers for scrap only, I couldn't be bothered reselling them. Plus we work on pretty big volumes. An average return for a computer tower is around $5.60 AUD per unit. I'd only pay about $2.50 max per tower. The LCD monitors I wouldn't pay for as they'd only go in light gauge or "shred". Same goes for the VCR. The laptops I sell to a yard complete as they're a pain to strip down so I'd only pay about $1.50 each. Printers aren't worth squat here so they'll get busted up and chucked in the bin.
High on life. And glue.
Sorry, I was going to keep my mouth shut but I cant...
Goatrutar do not put LCD screens in with shred. That is the most ridiculous thing I have heard. There are things in there that are hazardous things inside of them. If you can not recycle something in a green way please do not even take it!!! The PROPER way to have them recycled is one of two ways if screen is broken to stack them face to face with other broken screens and send them to a proper recycling company who can float the glass and clean them. The non cracked screens are sent to the same company or sometimes to another one, where the screens will be tested and if they work will be reused and the ones that don't are then go down a path where they are floated as well.
As I have said most people get into recycling to make money, but if you call your self a Professional or you do any kind of "volume" you are not just some person who is picking up cans on the side of the road!
I should stop but, well I do not want to even think about what else he does or what else ends up in the "shred" bin just to make the dollar..worries this **** out of me.
I don't deal with monitors/tvs, but I thought the problem pieces were the fluorescent bulbs, not the screen itself...
I just took apart some 17" lcds this weekend. There is a row of bulbs at top and bottom of a plexi-glass type screen. Those are the hazardous items in an lcd. Beyond that I got about 5 pounds of shred and a little over 1/2 pound of hi-grade boards. The circuit board that is attached to the front display is mostly gold plated, may see what my buyer classes that as. another pound of power supply board. The plexi glass is about 1/2" thick, might make a neat set of shelves with them. A bonus was all the semi-transparent sheets that filter the light. I gave those to the wife to make sewing patterns with. Reduce reuse recycle, each has its value.
I can understand a honest mistake but no. An...Jiffy even has it wrong...well lets do this...*rolls up my sleeves*
Sorry no the light bulbs have nothing to do with it. LCD screens between the glass have a wide range of chemicals, I don't know all of them but most old ones have "NF3" and its a very nasty chemical to the environment, ontop of mercury and other chemicals/heavy metals. Now in one here an one there won't make a difference but when you add how many people have them recycled and how many people do not do it right...yea...it makes a huge difference.
I have backed out so many lines I wanted to say...but I wont, I don't want to be "over powering" but shredding LCD screens is not the right way to have them recycled. I will buy all non cracked LCD as will MOST all e-waste recyclers...save them up and tape them FACE TO FACE (can add cardboard) and put them to the side til you have about 50 to 60 of them. 50 to 60 will fill one gaylord box
Ok heard enough. I too have the same problem. Your solution is a first . Please teach for dummies u mm me. Go step by step who and where or what to Google. This is a mystery here also. I would like to know better so I can recycle better. 1scrap. I'm just lost so I finally tossed now I feel lame and cheated. Help me do better my next batch. No problem making donations to recycle. Or resell . I one man.
I want to but can not do it all. I share. Sometimes. 1scrap.
I don't get a lot of stuff so I break down every thing. To many scrappers around here. Trying to get my cards out in the small city I'm in now
Sorry but its very hard for me to fully understand what you said here but I think I got the jest of it. All I will say is when it comes to recycling no one will ever know everything and you will make mistakes, I know I have made some both in how I recycled some items along with some of my management skills, but if you learn by your mistakes then it was good.
Recycling e-waste is beast on its own due to some of the metals that are in it. But selling just about any e-waste to a "scrap" yard for "shred" is not smart or a good thing to do from a recycling point of view. Printers are sold as shred alot and that's fine but remove the ink and the board from it. The board and ink are items that should NEVER BE IN SHRED.
Anyway if anyone ever has a question on HOW something should be recycled this website has tons of info and should be able to point you in the right way but if in doubt...go to a company that sets high standards and never be scared to ASK questions (or use google)
Thanks ,I just or really wanted you to expand on the laptop screens. What you do to Recycle yours and where . Your first hand and hands on screen expertise is helpful. If you don't want to share further I understand. Thanks again.
