I have called all around my city looking for someone to recycle the plastic generated from computer towers/other electronics, however no one will take it. The recycling division told me to just toss it in the trash. What do you all do with your plastic?

Im in the same boat as you. Were I live (Southern Arkansas) there is no one close to drop off/pick up my plastic. Same problem with my glass/CTRs.
Its a curse of not living by a big city. What I'm doing is calling the hell out of every one that takes scrap and my local landfill and getting them to talk to there hire ups and see were thy send/do with it. No reply back yet so I will be calling them soon.
Until then I can't say I'm 100% full recycle to my few customers.
If you want to and have the space for it, get a 55 gal. drum and place your plastic or "don't have some one to take it stuff" in them. Breaking the plastic into small bits inside the drum will buy you some room/time.

Well I'm in the process of working out a deal with a local plastic recycler. They said they would take my mixed plastic but there is a 15,000 pound minimum. I called another person I know who has about 11,000 and with mine included we're almost there.

I generate enough plastic and other scrap that I pay one of the "Big Boy" recyclers to take my junk.
Nothing goes in the trash

My city just started "single stream" recycling. I love it! Before, I had items that were mostly plastic with maybe a couple of imbedded steel parts that I could not recycle on the curb. I can now add those items into my bin.
I am officially 100% recycling my computers now. They even gave us a giant roll out bin. Larger than my regular garbage bin.
Before the switch, the city was getting about 40k a month from recycling. I can't wait to see their new numbers after a few months.

One of the (2) local scrap yards I use just started accepting computer plastic. They don't pay for it, but they also don't charge. Works out good since I go by there anyway and keeps it from the municipal site (they don't recycle that type of plastic, it just gets hauled off with other non-recyclables *and* they charge to dump it). To the OP, keep looking and ask questions, you never know when an opportunity will become available.

Not sure what state your in , keep a eye out for the blue dumpsters that say recycle only on them . A few buyers on his site pay for computer plastic , not sure if that's a option for you either . Here in Maryland we have single stream recycling but that Cary's from county to county and well the city seems to be Turing into a landfill as we speak.
My main concern is that it is recycled . I don't profit from plastics . 1956 has a great thread about bailing plastics and cardboard.
If you have the space and capital for a bailer . Good luck on getting to the 100% recycle mark . It's a good feeling knowing your reducing waste and actually freeing up space for things that are trash .
My county takes it so I don't have to leave the house to recycle plastic anymore . But there are at least 3 other options in my area.
Hope you find a method that suites you best .
