    It was a good week

It was a good week, not the best but profitable and fun. Early last week I decided to hit up a large local organization for e-waste. I entered via their shipping area and to my disgust I saw wrapped pallets of desktops waiting to be picked up. Didn't have to wait long because the new owner of the desktops was right behind me. Instead of getting discouraged I just hung out to see who I should be talking to. Once the guy in charge of such things had seen the other guy off with his desktops I inquired if I could have a minute or two to talk to him. He agreed and I told him how I would like in on the computer action. He advised that he already had three businesses getting computers. I let him know I didn't want to screw anything up for anyone else. And we just proceeded to have a nice conversation. After 15 minutes or so, he asks if computer RAM has any value. Being aware of the competition and the fact that this guy has got to know more than he let on, I offered $7 a pound for all the gold ram he had. He had seventy (70) pounds! I also acquired nine (9) pounds of finger cards and a promise to get me 50-100 desktops a month. The desktops are all newer than P4's.

Then on Saturday I went to an auction. There I bought a Dell MD 1000 for $25. I didn't even really want the MD1000 but I'm real happy about the 15 1.0TB Sata HDD's that are inside. Additionally, I bought a another similar unit as of yet unknown brand for another $25 and it had 16 1.0TB drives. Furthermore, for the same price I got a Dell PE 2900 that had 8 500GB drives. All drives had been wiped by the previous owners. These purchases were made all the sweeter by the presence of representatives of a large commercial recycler. Where ever I go trying to get some business more times than not I here" we give all are stuff to XYZ commercial recycler". So, I made sure that they paid $20-30 a piece for towers I can by all day long for $3-5. After that is when they sold the servers and storage arrays. I got first choice at $25 and bought the previous referenced units. Then made the big shots pay $35 apiece for two Dell PE 1950 and a Dell PE 2950. Both of which I've bought in the last two weeks at a local outlet for $10.

Nice "turn and burn" score on the ram and cards, fairly easy to ship.

Yes and with the potential desktops I hope to complete that box we've discussed. I will see him tomorrow. I've got my fingers crossed that he'll have something for me. I'm easy to get along with, I'd settle for only 50 pounds of RAM this week.

50lbs of ram is always a good thing in my book.

    Nice score Flint.
