Disassembled some servers to day and came across some IBM U5s that were so old the boards were made in Japan and you could actually see the MMLCs with the necked eye ! ( Only IT scrappers will get this one.)
it is funny and sad at the same time as it points out the direction manufactures are going. On newer servers the goodies on the board are so small you need a magnifying glass to see them.
The Tantalum capacitors are now less then 1/8 in square and the Rhodium MMlcs are nearly invisible.
Since both are heavy metal on 14,000 lbs of boards over a year your talking a sizable weight difference so, It scrappers, when you combine the drop in prices + the weight loss your job is going to be harder and your yield is going to be less.
Put this in your plans and pricing for the next year.
