Wanted - Scrap Projector Lamps for Recycling- $2 Per Pound (rn382)




I just saw this on my local Craigslist(Metro Detroit). I assume they are putting new bulbs in them and re-selling, but I am not sure. I would think if they were re-using them they would just pay per piece. I am not aware of any value in these beyond re-sale. At 2.00 per pound I am not sure they are even worth saving as they are pretty lightweight.

There is value in them. The video processor, high grade or mid grade board (depending on make and model), IR receiver, bridge ribbons, bulb housing and many of the other parts have both scrap and retail value. I buy projectors by the pallet load and make a substantial amount of money both from resale of units most people think are bad. Most have auto kill switches that shut the unit down after so many hours, despite there being nothing other than routine maintenance needing done on it. I have found most people just don't know and won't take the time to learn about their equipment. I have not had a TV in my house for years. every room where there once was one is a minimum of a 100" screen and an HD 3D network projector I can control from my laptop anywhere in the world. If your willing to spend a little time, and occasionally replace bulbs or parts (buying by the pallet I assume 25% loss at purchase, true ratio about 10% loss) there is money to be made on these units. Anyone wanting to scrap one is more than welcome to shoot me a PM and I will be happy to make an offer on it.

They are just looking for the bulbs though.
