its really about how much work your wanting to do I think with most its a 50/50 split besides selling them on ebay and such for higher gains

Look at the third link down on the similar threads. Olddude had good general advice that will likely answer your question.

I say any time you ask that question break it down, and make a decision for the next one you get. Last winter of breaking down 70+ power supplies solidified my decision on what to do with them. Others go the other route than me. Only you can provide the answer for yourself.

We cut the wire off and that's it. The price for power supplies without wire is lower, but I get a higher price for that wire than regular wire scrap.

will your yard buy as copper bearing ? Mine will not so I toss them in a box untill it's full , then i fill another box and another . Buyers on this forum will purchase these whole , perhaps save them up to breakdown when your slow if you do not have a local buyer .

The boards inside are power boards , command a little more value then low grade . I have read on here that people do three diff ways

Cut wire , throw in shred
    Break down completely
    Sell them whole

Only you can decide what is most effective for you
Buying ewaste and video games !

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

    How many do you have?

I'd ask the yard what they'll take them as whole (Per pound). Out here, I wouldn't be making anything to take them apart. Your yard may be different, though.

Open it up, Cut the wires, pull the copper windings and Alum heatsinks. Pull the fan if you really want to and smash it to get the motor out unless your yard buys fans as motors. Toss the rest in the shred. Thats how I do em'
