Yep you can peel the backing back, mine was Ali sheet.
I used a screwdriver, something wider would be better.
Then stuff peices of cardboard in the gap to keep it open.
Then keep peeling it back all around till it pops off.
Use a scraper to scrape the glue/foam off.
Then.pop the inserts out.
