    Flat Panel Monitors

Hello E-Scrappers my first official post here.

I recently came into a crap load of flat panel monitors (100 or so). For the most part I have been simply breaking them down as I would anything else. Just thought I would put this out there and see if any of yall have had much luck selling components or such. The only real thing outta the norm that I have tried with these is I do have a craigslist add running where I am trying to sell the plexiglass panes for the crafty community (just to see what happens). Anyway just thought I would put this out and see what you guys have to say.

I want to die still learning-----be well and god bless

Look under the wanted section on cl. I found a buyer that buys them whole working or not. For better than scrap price. This is all new to me I usually just scrap everything. Still learning too!! Luv it!

I'm guessing by flat panel you mean lcd/simulated led panel and not flat crt? Congrats on your find either way, I must pass along that if their flat crt tubes, those have to be recycled properly or the EPA will get after ya.

Your spot on. I did not say that they were the LED style and not CRT's. I do have a place to take the CRT's as they are quite toxic to the enviorment and I strive to have a 100% score on my material being recycled. Heck I procesed two bags of kids toys a fella brought to me knowing there was next to nothing in them, I choose to do the right thing rather than always make a buck.

That's good you're doing your part for the environment and yes, CRTs are highly toxic because of their lead content. TV manufacturers market some TVs as LED TVs but their simulated as only their lighting is LED instead of the tube that lights them normally(you can tell which one's are LED lighted because the screen's more whiter then others). A true LED TV are like the outdoor theater or the screen that's in vegas where you have a physical LED blinking colors in sequence with others to form a picture from far away. I probably know more about electronics then I should.

If you don't do anything major with the screens and their in good shape, they sell like hotcakes on Ebay to people like me who accidently trip over a cord, knocking the tv over, only to find the bottom corner is now filled with black liquid and forms a giant L shape. I try to stay away from craigslist for selling anything. Half the time you get people trying to scam you or you get lowballers who think you have to sell your item to them at their buy price. I might buy off craigslist or from people on facebook but I sell to either members on here or on ebay. Just my cents on a matter of three.

    -Matt

I am getting 20 cents a pound for them whole here. If I could find someone locally that paid double I would be really happy.

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

I second eBay if they're a name brand. If not, ask some of the buyers here on the forum.

People always need working flat screen monitors.

I don't get that many monitors (not crt's) but I have noticed a lot of the ones I get still work. I've been giving some to people at work who either need to replace their old crt or need a second monitor.

I always seem to have about 25 around here...just as soon as I sell them off and glad to have the space back another couple dozen find their way here.

I've gotten a couple as well, can't figure out what to do with them yet either, maybe break them down, maybe see if they work and sell them by the load to some one off Island...... I have no idea as of yet.
If it's not bolted down it's mine, if it's bolted down and I can pry it up.....it's still mine....

For liquidating working flat-screen monitors we typically utilize our local buy, sell, trade facebook group. 10$ a pop and they should come with syrup because they sell quicker than we can put them up.

There are buyers out there, but you may need to do some legwork to find them. I have a few local buyers, they buy them working or not as long as the screen is not cracked.
I get $6-10 each, and they take all I can get. They are repaired and exported. They are not worth breaking down in my opinion.
