Hey Spinroch, that's a bit neater than what I am dealing with and yes , I am out of room also, need to make a run maybe this weekend. I estimate only about 2000# for me. It pays the fuel bill.

With that size load, they sent a forklift and three guys out to unload my truck! Nice!
So far, I have no local market for the plastic and I can't dedicate the storage space to such a low priced item. Always looking for new ideas, though... Currently it goes off to be recycled with all my other end of the line junk.

Yep. It's Weitsmans. They will soon be the Borg of scrap metal. ONLY Weitsmans. They pay better that the other yards. They say they are giving the best price and bigger loads go for the same price as the smaller loads. We shall see.....

The Amazon tactic. The smaller guys getting the high volume pricing actually costs quite a bit in administration. Figure more paperwork and paid labor to handle more customers but....if they hold out long enough they will starve every other company in the area out of business.Originally Posted by spinroch

The load of tin was actually 12 Gaylords. It filled up a 26 ft. Truck. I subsequently took in 3 gaylords of aluminum and 3 aluminum wheels I found on the side of the road. They didn't even sort the aluminum, cause they know me. Total weight: 1,000 lbs, not including the wheels. I can make payroll this week. WooHoo!!

Wholly cow! As much as I love my hoard (which is about an 1/8th of that) I love it more when it's finally gone. Ahh...space!!!

Strange question- if that's a single axle 26' truck, do you remember what the empty weight is? I've never been able to find an accurate number for calculating payload.

Last time I was at their Albany yard, there price list had something in the upper left corner about larger loads. It included a name and number to call for better pricing on large loads. Not sure what quantity they would be looking for on light iron to qualify, but it may be worth looking into.
