    Laboratory equipment

    Got a load of assorted laboratory equipment from one of my regular clients. I usually pick up their computers and electronics, but they asked me to go to their other location for this load. All together it was about a pickup truck load. An industrial microwave (weigh about 100-120 lbs), an ICP-MS instrument, several industrial vacuum pumps (not in the pictures), some wires, etc. The vacuum pumps each have a 2-3 HP electric motor and a big heavy cast aluminum housing. Each one weighs around 50-60 lbs.

    As far as the boards are concerned, nothing much just a few low grade boards, and one or two small high grade boards. However, a lot of nice heavy stainless steel and aluminum. I tore most it down today. Didn’t weigh anything yet, but should be around 100 lbs stainless, 150+ lbs aluminum, and around 150 lbs electric motors. The load was free so I am happy with it.

    I was doing a lot(for me) of lab equipment but stopped because the time in breaking it down was keeping me from more profitable scraping. Because of continued health issues that keeps me from working more than a few hours a day I had to drop a great supplier of this material.

    That being said lab equipment has lots of Al, SS, and brass. I have been surprised just how much brass is in some of this type of material. There tends to be a lot of screws and bolts holding this stuff together. Certain types of this equipment have some really high grade boards. Good luck with it, Mike.

    You need to check the GRF there are some pretty big refiners there. any glass where ?

    This is a case of not asking questions soon enough could cost you a lot of money.

    As a follow up, I ended up scrapping most of the equipment with one exception. There was an analytical balance, weighs to 0.01g accuracy, working except the on/off button has some contact problem. It should still bring good money, already put it ebay.
    The rest yielded about 150 lbs aluminum, 120 lbs SS, 270 lbs electric motors, 20 lbs wire, plus some boards, transformers, etc.
    Olddude - There was no glassware in this lot.
