They all work now, thanks. GES should be sued up the but for that. Not a happy camper.

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

As prices fall, we can sadly expect to see more places doing unethical things. It's completely wrong, and I hope they are punished just as Tatooine and Stone Castle Recycling were.

    This makes everyone look bad....

I think this should be the least of the repercussions. I wonder if only the one facility had the certification suspended... And right after a R2 audit...

Landreville says that they are going to do what they can to not allow it to happen again

Seriously? That's their statement in defense of such horrible violations??? WTF! Why aren't they immediately shut down?

This mess is going to get deep in a hurry! I'm pretty sure they got paid to take all of Creative Recycling's stockpiled CRT glass, so there is no telling how deep this rabbit hole goes!!

Millions probably - enough to take a huge chunk out of their sales. Might even make em go bankrupt.

I bet that's not the only site they dumped in! If they will dump in a pit less than 100 yards away from their certified facility, there is no telling where else that was already filled up!!

What a mess. The state contracted with them to dispose of it's waste. The company they hired to do the job screwed it up. It really casts the state government in a bad light.

Now it's up to the state to punish them for doing a bad job. Seems like a conflict of interest. If the state makes a big deal out of it ... it makes them look like a bunch of incompetent jerks.

Wouldn't be surprised if they try to bury it somehow.

I can't help but wonder how many more companies are pocketing all of the money and digging holes out back.

All this is exactly what happened in NZ.

First a company does a bunch of paperwork, by people with a dodgy financial background.
Applys and gets a bunch of Goverment grants.
Opens business in large new premises and advertises for employees and gets a few pages and photos in the newspaper about the whole 'Clean Green' thing.
Gets and stores a bunch of scrap, spends all the money, finds it cannot get the $ they budgeted for, gets rid of some stuff in dodgy places.
Leaves a big pile of scrap piled up in its 'feeder yards'.
    Files for bankruptcy.

Lets look at the big picture here.
We need to find a better/cheaper way to dispose of the CRT glass.
This wont be the last story you hear like this.

What we really need is companies to actually do what they say they are going to do with the glass. Yes, it's expensive. That what clients are paying for. It's the companies that undercut the prices in order to win the business that are causing the problems. If a company tells you they have a cheap way to handle CRT's you had better think twice about it.

I was just thinking the same thing. Let's keep an eye on this and see if the regulatory agency use any of the penalty money to help try to find solutions to the problem or just use the money to grow their bureaucracy and power. yup it's me mcw
