Evening everyone, came across a load of smc ic's but didn't see any talk or value in search. Should I toss em in with my shred or... I thought there was a buyer that bought ICs but not sure where their thread wondered off to or if they took smcs.
I'm in a quite confuzzled state tonight lol.

Not sure what you mean by smc. Ewasted has IC chips on his list at $4.00 per pound.

oh crap another lesson learned for me I have been taking these of for some time and putting them in with my IC chips as to me that's what I thought they were. sorting these out will be a B#$%H. Great now im confused again.

Normally smc's don't come off the board so to a large degree I understand why EWasted wants em that way however I still have a bunch of boards that came to me incomplete and had parts removed off of em anyway so I invested in a solder pot and it doesn't take much heat on the other side of the board to remove em without torching the board itself(it is molten solder afterall). They'll stay in my misc/general items bucket until I get enough to send to someone as they generally don't have ebay resale value.

Logan you might find this interesting, they should have some value. You might try incinerating a couple and sifting out the ash to see how much "gold" there is.

You might want to read up on incinerating chips and the heat involved. I think that's where they use a small blower to increase the heat for less ash.

I'll look but I think my torch will work - things made by Ronson and puts out something like 10,000 btus and runs on butane lol.

I did a Google search about it and a few videos came up. Don't know if this is considered promoting refining or not but I'm just trying to steer him the correct way so no one gets hurt.

Definitely worth saving them, they contain a decent amount of gold. Should be worth more than the $4/lb for the regular plastic IC chips, as the gold content is higher.

I figured they were worth something just not sure what as I'm desoldering them off boards from my no good stockpile(no good as in boards with already missing parts). I was adding them to my IC Chip bag but was going to filter them out if I wasn't going to be able to send them with the ICs.
