What do you do with these?

I'm a small time scrapper and don't mind taking things apart, right down to the last screw. What do you guys do with LED displays, The shiny wheels that read VHS tapes and finally Dvd?CD disk readers from personal computers. For some reason I cant upload photos of these things. thanks

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

There is a buyer of LCD displays on here (Actually, a couple). I'd check with them first to see if they take LED monitors. If so, I'd sell them whole....

If you are referring to the CD/DVD players in computers..You can break them down for the board. I believe someone bought them as midgrade? Been awhile. You could also toss them in your scrap pile as some do, or break them down past the board an classify any metals you find in their own group. The little round bar in them is stainless if I recall right. Don't have any handy to check. Ha ha.

The wheel things in vcr players are alum I think, again..none handy to confirm an I've not had any VCR's in a little bit. usually just a ick board, various metals, an plastic for the case on newer cheap end ones or metal on older or higher end. Just shred..but metal!

    Matador answered the rest.

if it helps great, if not..I blame Hobo.

The wheel in videos is mostly Ali, theres a shaft and bearings and a few Brass bits, at the end its very little metal for some extra work, I'd say the transformer contains more cents value than the rest of the machine. (and I'm talking 'Cents', not $)

LED displays?, I think you mean LCD displays. They often have a Gold plated board behind them if they are from microwaves, printers or telephones.
If its them, theres also a black resin spot on the back, its got a little silicon chip under it, leave it on the board when you sell them.

DVD players. There is a circuit board on them thats worth money. The Laser mechinism has Gold plated parts but so far no ones been able to sell them or find a buyer. There is two little strong neoidium magnets in there too. Often the little motor has a small Brass shaft, with a sprial groove in it to move the laser mechinism.
The little ruibber bands handy as they do not break and last a long time. Better than rubber bands.
I save all that stuff, the motors go in my 'Motors/small transormers' bin. I keep the Steel shafts as its handy for home engineers and as a steel pin to drive out roll pins etc from other stuff.
