HELP identifying a vintage motherboard - Page 2

That would be tin plated RAM not silver correct? I only recall tin plated and gold plated RAM back then, and when you used gold plated on tin RAM sockets you might get corrosion.

Anyway why the 50 age cutoff? I am 47 and used computers back then.

That's what I started with was a webt back when i was 18 in 98. I loved the thing. Even did some hacking webtv things to make it go into demo mode and such. Built websites with it, on and on. Then in 2005 rented a computer from a rental store. After paying exorbitant weekly fees, decided to build a computer. It was all plug and play, component based just like working on a car. I was a mechanic so came natural. I'm such a nerd I put a 32" hdtv i fixed from the trash in my bathroom for watching while soaking in the tub or taking the am crap!! Was a quick glance although I would teach yaself mighty quick on how to hook bare boards up for testing. There is still a market even for socket 7 boards as much as 150 and up. Just last year sold 5 socket 7 boards tested with picture proof of it fired up on the bench for 75 a piece and one tyan dual socket p3 slot board server for 200 that went to europe.

i graduated high school 1979 and nobody had a computer....i heard they had them at the engineering college..drexel u....in the 80's they did start to catch on....cable tv was just starting too..mtv videos and espn...sports on tv during the day!!!! i was just starting to scrap...prices were low but contractors would leave copper or aluminum behind...wasnt worth it...and a lot of people werent doing it like they do now

I had a look thru my motherboards with the RCA plugs on them, and did not find a identical board.

There were two that were very close looking. One of them I have left everything still on it.
It had the same CPU, but a 'turbo' version with some smd capacitors soldered to its surface and a Ali heatsink over that.
I googled imaged for a pic but cannot find one.
I only have one of these CPU so I left the board intact, I have about ten of those brown/goldish RCA socket boards, and a few green ones too.
And a CPU on a fibreglass board with a plastic CPU on it.

So what was the best offer?

A bit higher then scrap
