    New chip scrap

Hey guys! I've Come into a few ounces of chips and just kind of wondering what might be useful. I know there's some ceramic Capactors or resistors. There's a bunch of asic chips. Very small like 10 or 16 pin IC. Think there's anything of value if I can get an ounce of these smt chips weekly.

I'd post some pictures but can't seem to find out how

Gidday from NewZealand. Yah need to make a few more posts before you can post pictures.

Tell us a bit more about yourself/situation and options and sources.

You do need more 'weight' of material to sell for $$. Saving it up is a good idea, while you find a buyer & prices.

I'm brand new to all this. I only have a couple ounces of month. I figured saving them up and trying to salvage pallidium? Possibly silver and if I'm really lucky a little gold from the IC chips

I know there's not thousands of dollars to be recouped here. But net a hundred or a couple hundred a year would be considered a win.

Welcome to the forum. I believe you are correct to save up everything you can for now. Invest your time in reading the old threads and the Buyers/Sellers section of the forum(there's a button at the top of every page).

This education you can gain by reading will pay off in profits for you and you will not hate yourself for getting ripped off.

Also we don't get into recovery/refining of gold and other PM's on this forum due to the complexity and hazards. There is another forum set up for those who want to investigate refining. 73, Mike

These are all scrap chips. Is there many buyers for this sort of market?

Chances are good if they provide any kind of precious metals someone does or will.

Post up an intro, get a couple more posts under your belt so you can post pics of the exact chips your dealing with. Your scrap chip could be something someone buys, or knows about. Prior posts are good advice. Save up, do some research, get a few more posts(pics help a lot), an hopefully..profit.

    An welcome to the forums.

    Good luck!

the answer to your question is this...YES it is worth something...an ounce or 2 of chips (unless REALLY OLD ones with alot of gold (386/486 or older)), they won't be worth much. You will need to send in pounds and pounds of them to make anything if they are newer (say P4 and newer - only $3-5/lb I believe it is). We really need to know more specifically what chips you have...and realy people have suggested spending a bit of time in the buyers forum to get an idea on pricing (ewasted's thread is a good place to start).
PROFIT is made when you BUY/ACQUIRE NOT when you sell
