Stepper Motors?

Just curious about stepper motors. How they are used and what they are used for. I have two boxes of new old stock 9V 12W north american philips controls corp stepper motors.



I will probably try to ebay them, but I'm not seeing much of anything in 9 volt.

On more question ... could these be used as a wire stripper along the lines of this?

The motors in the video are servo, good for windmill generators.

Stepper motors maybe also used as windmill generators but have many more uses in do it yourself CNC projects.

Post some pictures of your motors, then we'll know what you have.

Hippo how many leads coming from that motor, steppers usually have 4,6 or eight.

If I were to take a guess I would say you have some type of a servo that operated a valve, have you googled the part numbers.

I have came across these before when taking apart old order processing units, like ones that were used to send and receive orders from one business from another. It was similar to a huge typewriter, with the capability to send, receive, print, all that good stuff. As to any type of resale or value I believe they fall into the same category as microwave turntable motors, I ended up searching the ones I had based purely on the values (hz vol etc) instead of the ser numbers. Since they were so old! Hope that helps a little bit

Do it yourself hobbyists use stepper motors for cnc projects like making 3D printers.

Sell them on ebay there's a good demand even for used steppers.
