Should I scrap or try to sell for refurbishing?

On the pallet that I have from a school district auction, I have about 35 Dell optiplex gx620 mini towers. The stickers on the front are : Intel pentium 4ht inside and windows xp. Again...I know NOTHING about computers. When I received them, tmost case screws have been removed and so there in a jingle when you pick them up, so I am not sure if anything has been removed.
    I also have some laptops
4 compaq armada e500 that have the pentium 3 stickers with window nt/98 and 1 compaq evo n600c
    1 compaq a rmada 1500c with a Celeron sticker.
2 hp compaq nc600 with pentium 4 and windows co
    3 compaq 6715b with AND turion64 sticker
None of the laptops jingle but I don't have power cords to plug them in.
    WHAT SHOULD I DO!??

If they work, those GX620 can sell for about $20 each ( if you happen to have a bunch working hard drives laying around )
I use to "rescue" old computers for years, and even lower end units like this do sell - just not for very much.

It's up to you - is it worth your time to try to sell the working units, or just destroy them ?

Please forgive me...these are prob the most ignorant questions, but I'm completely clueless on anything technology accept online shopping on my phone... but these do not have hard drives? What route should I go? I want the most money of course!, but I also want these out of my house! Is 35 of these even enough to make weight scrapping them? Also, I have looked at some price sheets for scrapping, but i font know what in the heck i even have in those computers, much less how to take it apart. Anyone you could recommend me to that would possibly by them whole?
I'm a little our side of Dallas, in the stix..pretty sure nobody around here( we just moved and I do not know of anyone anyways!) And my husband is too busy to help me!

Your worst out come will be to scrap these towers. Depending on what you paid for them you will still make a profit. In the end you will have learned a lot and hopefully had some fun self educating.

Do the research I suggested in your other thread. Check the towers and see if they sell whole on ebay, check "sold" box. Learn about shipping costs etc.

Make or purchase a copy of the operation system Ubuntu(its free online google it) and put it on a thumb drive. Don't know how search youtube videos for Ubuntu.

Test out your towers and see if they work, using the Ubuntu operating system on a thumb drive eliminates the need for a hard drive with windows on it.

If the towers don't have enough value then perhaps individual parts can be sold for a profit.

Keep reading the old and new threads for the best education you can imagine for free.

All this can be done with out assistance from anyone else. I may be stronger than you but maybe not. I started scraping as a way to rehab myself while on dialysis and later after a kidney transplant. My maximum weight I am supposed to lift is 20 pounds. 73, Mike

Well, I have nothing but time! Might as well find a profitable hobby! Thank you for all your help.
Did the transplant take? My little brother has an auto immune disease that is attacking his body, primarily it's focusing on his kidneys now. He is on his 2nd round of dialysis. It kills me in not near him to help.

I have/had IgA an immune disease that attacked my kidneys. Possible side effect 20 years in the Marine Corps, it seems Marines have more incidents of this disease. If he can stay in relative good health then he may be able to qualify to be put on the transplant list. All roads are tough even after a transplant. 73 to him and you, Mike

Michelle, welcome to the forum. If you have not found this thread yet, read it for a great starting point.

    https://www.scrapmetalforum.com/e-wa...ification.html

You will still have many questions, but it should give you a great start.

Basically, you want to tear them apart and make piles of all the components. There are basically two grades of mother boards (with a few exceptions). Small socket and large. Every tower will have a power supply, mother board, CPU, they should have a couple of sticks of RAM, some finger cards and a large heat sink mounted above the CPU. The outer steel cases you will pile up and then take to the scrap yard but be warned that steel only pays a few pennies per pound. Save all of the wire for now too.

Spend some time looking at the buyers section. The way I sell is to have my buyer send me a prepaid Fedex label and they then deduct the cost from the payout.
Copper, brass, and Leather. 3 of my favorite things.

Hi. I just realized that half of these are 760. Are they basically the same?

Hey Michelle, do some reading and check out the buyers. I can strongly recommend 3 great buyers that I use or have used. They are very helpful and their listings are basic and clear for sorting. doing the tear down will help you get familiar with computers, with dells you really just need a Philips screw driver and a pair of side cutters, a lot over them just clip together though. HP's a little different, need a t15 torx for them. Sort out the material and ship out the boards to one of the buyers here, WI, OH and/or CO are the states to look in for buyers. I can't speak for all the buyers here but these 3 I have sold to without a problem. PM if your able to and I will tell you who, don't want this to sound like a review of those buyers.

There are many areas here for IDing your take. If you have any questions, search it up then ask, but a lot of stuff has been answered but if you can't find your question, then please ask. This is a great place to learn, better than school.

Hope this helps you a little more.

    Happy scrapping

Since the optiplex gx620 that I have are usff, and do not have the internal power supply, how do I go about looking for a buyer for the power supply cords ( w/ ac adapters)?
